Sturdy, solid wood.

I was a little skeptical ordering this set after reading mixed reviews. When it arrived I was surprised to find it was made of solid wood. I was expecting veneered particle board. Assembly was fairly straightforward. Only problem I ran into was the pilot holes for the longer screws were too shallow. Making it difficult to run the screws in all the way. Simple fix was to drill out all the long screw pilot holes. Once assembled I was pleased with the look and sturdiness of the bench. Overall I was very satisfied with this bench for the money.

I bought this for my mother for her grandchildren. It looks great. It took quite a bit of work to put it together but it looks great and feels so sturdy.
