Coffee Table

I was looking for a small coffee table and this certainly fit the bill. Assembly was easy enough even with the lack of instructions. The top pane of glass is over 4 sq. ft. The description says the legs are black, but in my opinion, the legs are a dark brown.

Really like this table. I ordered the coffee table also, and am waiting for that. I got the end table within a week, with no tax and no shipping charges. This isn't a handmade expensive product; it's made in China, but for $106 it looks like I paid at least $250 for it from a reputable furniture store. It was VERY easy to put together, and only took 5 minutes. There are picture instructions included, no English or Chinese instructions, but the pictures are easy enough for a child to put this together. The glass is thick and beveled so it looks expensive. The glass alone would cost $100 at a glass store, so I consider the end table a very good deal. I'm waiting for my coffee table to finish out the living room. Be careful of the paper veneer on the legs however, it does tear. A small piece tore off when assembling the legs, but a little bit of glue will take care of that.

There's numerous cracks in it, very thin "pine". When I was putting it together I noticed there's screws thats too long. Too expensive for the quality!

The Bench
Happy with It

I was supprised when the bench came much earlier than I was expecting. The bench is not real wood, but is the perfect size to sit with my long dinning table. It matches in and will fit 2-3 people comfortably. I am very happy with the style and simplicity as my table is the piece with all the antique carvings.

I just bought this bench for my entry hall, planning to use the baskets for my kids' shoes. I built it today, so have absolutely nothing to say about longevity, but I already have gripes.Pros: It's gorgeous, and carefully packaged. The parts fit together pretty well.Cons: Cheap hardware, self-abusive design, and low-rent execution.Before I start, I gotta say the packaging was offensive. They foam-molded the whole box, so it doesn't recycle. And you have to know to open the top left corner, or you get Styrofoam dust all over the place. Would an "open here" stamp really cost too much?As to the bench itself:1) The stud & cam assembly of this thing is pretty poor. The studs have to get screwed in, assembled, disassembled, adjusted, reassembled, then the cams applied. If you don't make that second adjustment, then the studs often sit too low, and I sheared 2 of the cams trying to tighten those. IMHO, no piece of furniture hardware should shear upon my one-handed turn of a screwdriver. CHEAP hardware.2) The aforementioned cheap hardware shipped with exactly the right number of pieces. Every other piece of furniture I've bought disassembled has shipped with at least 1 or 2 extra sets of hardware. Thankfully, Ace Hardware now carries these cams.3) There are very few supports under the base, it sits on four feet. So when I sit my fat butt on it, it bows down in the middle.4) The pillows ("cushions") shipped with this item have removable covers (which is good), but the zippers on these pillows are on the bottoms, so the metal has plenty of opportunity to scratch the paint. I read all the reviews and thought great this bench looks great is cheaper than others and has good reviews. I WAS SOOOO WRONG!! First I bought it and when I got it the box was in excellent condition but the pieces inside were broken, chipped and split. I called Coaster and they said there was nothing they could do about it. So I exchanged it for the same thing thinking ok just got a bad item. Second one came in a terrible looking box. It was patched and had holes. Inside the same pieces were broken, chipped and split. It is not well made the paint is pitted and thin. It is flimsy feeling and made out of particle board. The cushions are also thin and had scratched the paint even in shipping. PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME! DON'T BUY THIS!

Although I like the bench, it's much smaller than it looks in the picture. The pillows especially! They don't even cover the entire bench. I like the item, but feel I paid too much for what I got.

The bench was fairly easy to put together and does look nice but it is clearly very cheaply made. Before assembling we had to buy some extra brackets to reinforce the base which was basically just particle board stapled to other pieces of particle board and had already started pulling apart. Based on other reviews I bought my own hardware to avoid the breaking problem and that worked well. The 3 pillows that come with it are a little to small and slide around, so like other reviewers, I also replaced them with a single foam cushion. The baskets are pretty chintzy and I will probably cover them in fabric or replace with nicer baskets eventually. Ultimately you are getting what you pay for here.

I received this bench very quickly! It was easy to put together and quality made. The only 2 things that I didn't care for was that the baskets that come with the bench scratch the bottom of the bench making scratches. Also, the pillows that came with the bench are nice but the buttons came off by just sitting on them. I contacted the company and they quickly sent me new ones. Great customer service!! Overall I love the look of the bench and the quality of it as well. Great product for the price!!

More "do it yourself" than expected.

Now that the bench is complete it looks good and works well. However, the instructions were poor (pictures but no written explanation), some of the attachment components are flimsy (they break if too much pressure exerted) and some of the screw holes were missing so we had to drill them. Also the cushion buttons were not securely held in place and became detached very easily. My wife had to re-sew all of them.

This bench is great in my kitchen. It's quite similar to the one from Pottery barn but not so overpriced, especially since it comes with the baskets and cushions. The only thing I could've done without are the cushions. Nice to have cushions, but these are pretty lame... I ended up making my own single cushion the length of the bench, using my own color scheme. The structure and sturdiness of the bench are great. The instructions were a little sketchy for details, but you should be able to figure it out! Took no time at all to put together. Love the baskets for hats and gloves or footballs and frisbees. Very happy!

Broken When Delivered

Dont buy from this merchant. Our item came broken twice. When we wanted our money back, we were told we had to find a charity, bring it to the charity and donate it in Furniture Creations name. Nothing was our fault but we had to clean up the mess. The main problem being, the furniture was broken and unable to be assembled. We sent pictures to them and everything. They still would not help us unless we got a donated charity slip. Amazon has been wonderful to deal with. I am so glad we ordered through Amazon because if we went through Furniture Creations I don't know what would happen. Please be careful with this merchant and I wouldn't buy a craft stick from them in the future.

Solid table

This is a very solid hardwood table. The table arrived well packed, and the only assembly required was attaching the legs (like the other reviewed said, a socket wrench would be helpful). The table itself is much nicer than I expected for the price. I'd been shopping for tables and had decided that rather than spend $800+ on a nice table, I'd get something less expensive until my kids were at a point where I'm relatively sure they won't break it, so I purchased this not expecting that much (something nicer than ikea/particle board, but not much nicer). I was pleasantly surprised by this table, it feels every bit as solid and as well made as the more expensive tables I was looking at. The one thing that I would say is that it does look slightly darker than in the picture.

Scratches, dents and sparse Hardware

I ordered this set. So far I have received 4 chairs. It was packaged poorly. When I unpacked it there were multiple scratches on the seats, several dents and scrapes on the back and legs of the chair. The hardware was not packaged in one bag but strewn around the entire box. When I counted everything up there was only a 1/3 of the screws and washers to assemble the chairs. It was awful. I have not received the table yet and I am hoping it will be in better shape. I have emailed the company and am waiting for a response. Quality control is really poor. This was unacceptable and I have a feeling is going to be a hassle to fix. As consumers none of us expect this kind of grief.If I get a good response from Coaster Company, I will upgrade this Review. If I don't I will let you know that too.

Quality Control and misleading with 6 chairs on the picture

I am not the first one who thought there would be 6 chairs along with the table. I should not consider this is purely a problem from the seller as I should have read the ads carefully, and the deal would be too good to be true.I got my table last Friday. It took me about 2 hours to have the package open and moved the heavy set into my dinning room. The table is okay but with some visible damage on two corners (see the picture) [...]I don't think it was due to the shipping (the package was not damaged at all), so it seems the table was damaged before the packaging.Amazon is very responsible/responsive on this matter. I was given two options 1. return/refund fully. 2. 20% discounted for the damage. As it would take so much effort to ship it back (although Amazon would take care of all), plus I would have to order again and open another beast of package. I decided to take option 2.Over all, the table is very solid, and it is heavy. I don't have other issues with it..

We were very impressed with the quality and look of the table, but also very disappointed that a corner was smashed and splintered. At first we were told that we'd have to package it and take it to a shipping company ourselves! When I finally got a hold of the "Large Items" department at Amazon they were very helpful and got me a label and order to have it picked up.When the replacement table came today a corner was broken again :-( And I was shocked to see that this table was not solid wood as it is supposed to be; it was PARTICLE BOARD!? So, buyer be ware! The deliver guy commented on the difference in weight between the two tables, so that is a tip-off. The solid wood table really is quite heavy (110lbs). We learned from the first table to open and inspect it while the delivery person was here so we could refuse deliver and get it off our hands right away! Amazon was helpful in getting this replaced, again, but didn't say anything about the particle board.....We're giving this another try because we bought 6 matching chairs separately on Amazon.com, but sold buy At Home Mart (BTW: in the first shipment of those 5/6 were damaged - 2nd order they were all good).

This is a beautiful table. Unfortunately, we received a damaged table. On the outside, the box did not look significantly damaged. Upon opening the box, we noticed the table is cracked on two corners and there are cracks on the inside of the apron of the table. We are returning it to Amazon and have noted that they are not selling this item at present. Good move on their part. If this table was undamaged I would have given it five stars.

Great Table and Chairs at affordable price

I must say I am perplexed reading some of the reviews here, our table was well packaged and arrived unscathed. It was a simple assembly (I recommend putting wood glue in the chair joints as you assemble, not necessary for table). We've had this table over a year and have gotten a lot of use out of it. It has kept up well and despite a lot of use and a litter of kittens climbing it, there are no discernable scratches or marks. A wonderful piece of furniture for your home, sturdy hard wood (not that soft pine that gets knicked up quickly), and a great price (especially compared to what others charge for a dining room set). Just be careful not to overtighten screws on chairs (my own enthusiasm split a spindle, which I easily glued and fixed with another screw).

A for effort, and then for result

The first bench I bought arrived promptly, was VERY easy to set up, and not only looked good, but was sturdy enough to hold me as well as all the equipment I burdened it with. So when I needed a second bench, I bought another one. This time, way too much nature was included in the natural bamboo -- bugs had attacked the bench and when I opened the box in my bedroom, a small mountain of bamboo dust fell from one of the support rods, which had been eaten through. The reason I am writing this review is to compliment Oriental Furniture on their prompt, courteous response. The replacement came when they said it would, and no bugs of any kind were present. Their lack of red tape and obfuscating was a genuine pleasure.

First of all kudos to Amazon for prompt delivery as always. After the review about insect damage I was concerned but hope for the best. The item arrived double boxed which was good but there was no packing what so ever. To make matters worse one of the large cross pieces had a big crack half the length of the piece. I knew it was a risk but I was only going to use it for a couple plants in front of the window. I have glued the piece and turned it so the crack faces the wall. I had thought to buy a second one but there are other pieces that cost less and probably won't come damaged. I don't plan to return this bench its unique but I wouldn't advise anyone to buy it.

Poor quality knockoff

The bench arrived damaged with a ding in one corner and a broken piece in the opposite corner. I can write that up to shipping damage, however the overall finish and assembly quality of the product is extremely poor. The material quality seems fine, but absolutely no care was taken in the assembly. I like this style of bench, and after this experience will probably pay the extra money for the real deal.

Minor imperfections, do not really matter in the big picture. Good value!

First off, I'm supremely picky about wood surfaces. This item is a knock off of a great bench and as such, there are many imperfections, wood filler, etc. It's also not made of maple, as the original, so the wood has many discolorations as compared to the real George Nelson item.The interesting thing is, the imperfections are hardly noticeable under normal lighting! Only when looking at a certain angle with a bright light and up close, will you notice the wood filler.I took a chance to have a great bench for $200 shipped. It's a fantastic design, a work of art, but ultimately in our entrance, it's just a sitting bench.So... I thought I would be able to deal with some imperfections. To my surprise, they are hardly noticeable under normal circumstances. I've uploaded 10+ pictures from all sorts of angles to highlight these. Very happy !I also wanted a less deep bench (18.5" is too much for our entrance and 14" is just perfect) I am happy to report the bench was moddable to suit and still maintains a solid structure. (see pictures for final modded bench)The wood does have more grain and color variation than I would like, but I would not have paid $450 to have a perfect maple bench with super perfect wood. And $799 for the original was out of the question. Keep in mind that most of these benches can be found for $200-$360 online, I have a sneaking suspicion they are all from the same factory. I'm pretty sure anything under $400 will be this exact same bench with a different name so be careful if you get an more expensive clone variant...So in summary, for $200, it's great value. I hope the pictures are of some value to someone looking to get into an affordable version of the George Nelson Classic.

received this as a gift, been wanting one of these for some time. The finish on the legs is good, but the wood quality and finish on the seat is a bit sketchy. for one, coming out of the packaging, there was a fair amount of dust. the wood quality is ok, but there are some sizable knots in the wood, which is a bit annoying. the finish is fairly good throughout, but there are patches that are rough or simply without any urethane. the construction quality is by far the sketchiest. there are exposed finish nail heads on the sides and below, and as if that weren't bad, the joints are cut short and the gaps filled with a wood filler of some kind. it looks good from several feet away, but get within arms distance and it beceomes obvious that its a knock off. its about what you'd expect, but still a little disappointing.

I read these comments before purchasing this bench that advised consumers of the quality of the bench out of the box. I convinced myself that it couldn't be that bad.Out of the box, the legs had divots in the metal which had clearly been painted over--so it should not have passed as a first quality item. The wood bench itself had a divot or two as well as large variations in the stain.At the end of the day, I decided to return it (which Amazon made very easy) because I wouldn't accept those flaws on a new item. If it had been purchase used, sure--but not the product or the level of packaging I would expect for ~$200.

Awesome folding outdoor tall bistro bar table

I researched for a while and was delighted to find these. We have a little balcony with tall glass railings. So we needed a tall bistro table. These are it. These are also great because they can fold and store away. They are made from recycled metal in the Philippines. Great for two people. The outsoor wear is great. They have survived 2 Seattle winters and even some sun. Get the matching chairs.

I specifically purchased this table for its "folding" capabalities. IT DOES NOT FOLD. It comes apart with screws and bolts for storage but does not fold. Totally, NOT SATISFIED!!! Will never order from you again. I believe you misrepresented this product.

It would have been perfect if I were able to use it. The top only fits into two of the slots - not all four. It is also quite wobbly so I purchased some locking nuts to help keep it stable. Of course, the top is on a slant until I can get someone to bend the legs so that they might fit. I would have returned the item if the box in which it was shipped did not have to be cut apart in order to open it and retrieve the item. Actually, this was not worth it at any price. I wasted my money and thought seriously of contacting my credit card company to withhold payment.

If you have been looking for a bistro table for a while than you know that there is not much out there. This table size was perfect for what we needed. We were looking for something small [it's 23.5 inches in diameter] and tall enough to go to enable us to watch the critters at play along the treeline in the back yard. At 38.5 inches in height, this was perfect. On arrival, the box was found to be a bit beat up but the contents were ok. True, the instructions were not the best but there wasn't really that much to put together. Part count is: top, 2 leg sets, 2 short bars, 4 bolts, 4 screws. The top is a single piece with four "pegs" on the bottom. The four legs slide over these pegs and have a screw that is screwed down against the peg [like a large set screw] until a secure junction is achieved. The legs themselves arrive as two pairs. Each pair is welded together. To understand how this is done, look at the square connector where the four legs are connected in the photo. You can see four bolts there. The sides with no bolts are welded to those legs and the short piece between the bolts is a short bar that ties the two welded leg sets together to create the whole. Now for the best way to set this up, that is , the way I would set it up after I did it the first time! Connect the leg sets and stand them upright where you intent to place the table, start the set screws for connecting the top, place the top on the legs, place a level on the table top and level the table. This is a matter of tightening and loosing the four bolts at the square junction of the legs. This is really your best adjustment area. It may take a bit to get it set up, but it is really not that hard. Screw down the setscrews to solidify the top and you are done.Read more ›

The worst packaging I've ever seen on a piece of shipped furniture...arrived damaged

The bench came damaged along with the box. The bench is so poorly packaged with thin cardboard and only one side of thin styro-foam on the bench, meaning all other five sides of the bench are not protected! I can't imagine how this bench can arrive to anyone's door undamaged.I used an entire roll of clear tape to wrap up the broken box to return it.If the bench were to arrive in perfect condition, I would have given it as 4 star, its quite sturdy and looks good for the price. Buyer be-careful though, it will probably come to your house damaged.

This bench is very sturdy and has a beautiful dark finish. The bench did arrive very timely and no damage to the box, however there were a couple of obvious damaged areas, I chose not to go thru the hassle of returning and since it is a distressed look decided to touch up with some dark walnut stain and keep it! I really is a wonderful bench
